Revocation of Licence for 2 Stories on Bradshawgate After Serious Incident
The popular venue, 2 Stories on Bradshawgate, has had its licence revoked by Bolton Council following a serious incident that occurred in December. The decision came after an emergency interim order was initially put in place, and a full council hearing revealed the poor response of staff to the incident and other issues raised by the police.
Police had called for a review of the licence due to the premises being associated with serious crime. CCTV footage presented at the hearing showed the incident in question, as well as interactions with the designated premises supervisor and the injuries sustained by the victim. Additional footage highlighted a promotional drinks offer and a person found unconscious outside the premises due to intoxication.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police outlined the investigation, which is currently with the Crown Prosecution Service. The victim suffered a serious injury, including nerve damage and the need for plastic surgery, as a result of the incident.
The hearing revealed that police had difficulty accessing CCTV footage in a timely manner, with the DPS being uncooperative and allegedly intoxicated. This hindered the investigation and allowed the suspect to attend the hospital before being apprehended.
The committee ultimately decided to revoke the licence of 2 Stories on Bradshawgate, citing the failures of the designated premise holder, the serious nature of the incident, lack of clarity on staff members, issues with CCTV, irresponsible drinks promotions, and incidents involving intoxicated customers.
The venue, which opened in July 2022, will no longer be able to operate following the council’s decision. The DPS expressed regret for their actions on the night of the incident, but it was not enough to prevent the revocation of the licence.
