Florida doctor’s license restricted for performing unauthorized plastic surgeries, including deadly Brazilian butt lift

Florida Surgeon’s License Restricted After Fatal Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

A Florida surgeon’s license has been restricted following a tragic incident involving a patient’s death after unauthorized plastic surgery. Dr. John Sampson of Coral Gables, Florida, faced an emergency restriction order from the state department of health for performing risky procedures that ultimately led to a fatal outcome.

The procedure in question was a Brazilian butt lift, known for having the highest mortality rate of any cosmetic surgery. This popular procedure involves removing fat from one part of the body and injecting it into the buttocks to create a more rounded and lifted appearance. However, the technique used by Dr. Sampson during the surgery was deemed risky and prohibited by the Florida Board of Medicine.

During the operation on a 33-year-old woman, Dr. Sampson reportedly lacerated multiple organs and used a technique that increased the risk of mortality for the patient. Tragically, the patient suffered a cardiac event and later died from pulmonary embolisms caused by fat particles blocking the arteries of the lungs.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with cosmetic surgeries, especially those that involve injecting fat near vital arteries. Demand for Brazilian butt lifts is on the rise, but consumers are being increasingly warned to be cautious and seek qualified surgeons to avoid potential risks.

This case highlights the importance of thorough research and due diligence when considering cosmetic procedures, as the consequences of choosing an unqualified surgeon can be devastating. The tragic outcome of this unauthorized surgery serves as a cautionary tale for both patients and medical professionals in the cosmetic surgery industry.
